The Pasta Shoppe: Review and Giveaway

I was so lucky to be sent a box of various pastas from The Pasta Shoppe to try and to review! Pasta is a staple in the Daigle home so of course we were all willing to review! But as kids, and mom are, as soon as the Meringues were seen, they were the first tried! Devine, OMY Goshness, holy yummy were some of words used to describe the awesome melt in your mouth pieces of yumm! Not only do the come in Vanilla Bean, they also have Key Lime Coconut, Peppermint and Chocolate Cocoa Crunch.

Because we have all been feeling crappy due to this nasty ickness thats been going around, instead of giving the kids the canned chicken noodle soup, I decided to make The Pasta Shoppes version. Yes I had to cook chicken to add, you can use a canned chicken, but it paid off. It was good!

There are so many various shapes, there is no way I could cover them all.  My daughters loved the peace, love & happiness pasta shapes. Abby thought it was so cool to eat hearts!
They also have a large variety of seasonal shaped pasta! Not only Halloween but Christmas, Valentines Day, Thanksgiving and Jewish Holidays as well! There are just too many to list here! But you can see their full list of seasonal pastas HERE.

And they have Glutton Free food as well!  But for the College sport fans there is something extra special! Collegiate Pasta Shapes! AND they are only $5.99 a bag! Perfect for game days! No Maine Black Bears tho, sorry.
There are also gifts and gift boxes. Perfect for the holidays and the hard to shop for!

You know how kids go the annual school fundraisers to raise money for school and bands and trips and such?? Well, The Pasta Shoppe offers a fundraisng program! I know I hate it when kids ask me to buy. I think the paper and candy are way over priced and I dont really like them. But just about every one eats pasta!  So that makes this the perfect fundraiser! And the packages are actually a useable size and the sweets are more than just a nibble sized nibbler! You can find more about their fundraising on their fundraising website. https://www.funpastafundraising.com/requestInfo.php

They have 2 pages on Facebook as well. Their main page, HERE and their Fundraising page HERE.

The founders of The Pasta Shoppe are John and Carey Aron. Their business is family run and home based in Nashville, Tennessee. Their pasta adventure began in 1992 during their honeymoon to Italy. They fell in love with pasta and the Italian lifestyle, and knew someday that they wanted to recreate a piece of Italy back home.
In 1994, they traveled back to Italy to understand exactly what it took to make the highest-quality and best-tasting pasta around. Then they added the fun part: hand-crafted bronze dies to create more than 250 different pasta shapes. From cat paws to Christmas trees to college logos, they have got a fun pasta shape for everyone.
The Pasta Shoppe creates small batches of quality pasta – no mass production. The plant is similar to the 'boutique' manufacturing plants found in Italy, home of perfect pasta. They buy all their pasta-making machines from Italy and fill them with only the finest ingredients available – 100% durum semolina flour and all-natural vegetable powders.

Now the best part! One lucky person is gong to win a box valued at $30.00 worth of pasta plus their choice of 1 collegiate bag of pasta. Debras Random Rambles and >>YOUR BLOG NAME HERE<< are not liable for fufillment. Good luck!

Pigs n blankets = easy receipe

I use Pillsbury Crescent Rolls for this. Open the package and seperate the triangles. Flaten them out, just a bit. Cut 4 hot dogs in half. Sometimes I use turkey dogs to make it a bit healthier.

Put the dog on the larger end and roll the dog towards the smaller end. Fold over ends.

Place on a baking sheet and bake at 350 until golden brown.

VOILA!!! Done!

My opinion, even tho the book seemed slow paced to me, it was a very good book and well written. My daughter, who is 14, liked it as well. Like Pirates??

I was sent a copy of L. Ron Hubbards book and audio Under the Black Ensign to review for Talk Like a Pirate Day. I received no other compensation for my review. My opinions are my own.

I love a good story. I really like to reread the books that I grew up reading. Thats why I was happy to read Under the Black Ensign. Classics never go out of style. Even tho the book was written in 1940, it still captures the mind today. This book came with a CD audio to listen to.

Quick Synopsis:

"Long before Captain Jack Sparrow raised hell with the Pirates of the Caribbean,
Tom Bristol sailed to hell and back Under the Black Ensign. That’s where the
real adventure begins.

Bristol’s had plenty of bad luck in his life. Press-ganged into serving aboard a
British vessel, he’s felt the cruel captain’s lash on his back. Then, freed from
his servitude by pirates, his good fortune immediately takes a bad turn . . . as
the pirates accuse him of murder—and leave him to die on a deserted island. Now
all he has left are a few drops of water, a gun, and just enough bullets to put
himself out of his misery.

But Bristol’s luck is about to change. Finding himself in the unexpected company
of a fiery woman and a crafty crew, he unsheathes his sword, raises a pirate
flag of his own, and sets off to make love and war on the open seas."

L Ron Hubbard is an American author and the founder of the Church of Scientology. (Not promoting this or any religion).

There is also a lesson plan that goes along with the book. It is perfect for homeschoolers and teachers to use. You can find it by following THIS LINK.

I really did love the book! It brought back memories of hanging out in my parents backyard and reading on the double swing.

HAPPY TALK LIKE A PIRATE DAY!!!!

Newmans Own Organic Review and Giveaway

Newmans Own Organics

We have been buying and eating Newmans Own for years. So when I was given the opportunity to try Newmans Own Organics, I jumped on it!

I was sent a large box of Newmans Own Organics products to try and to review. The opinions are, as always, my own.
Since this post would be way to long for me to detail everything I got, Im going to highlight just a few of the yummy items they sent. I was sent Prunes, a few different types of pretzels and other yummy goodies.

The Licorice Twists were a big hit! The sour apple was the winner of the two. They were not as sour as I was thinking they would have been. We have bought these since and to be honest we took the last 3 packages on the shelf.
Fig Bars were ok, they did seem a bit dry to me but the kids loved them. They ate the entire package in less than 5 minutes, so Im guessing thats a seal of approval.

Creme Filled Vanilla Cookies. They had a partner with the chocolate and the mint cookies but they went too fast to get a good picture. They are just as good as the "other" named cookies.

Last but not least, these awesome Double Chocolate Cookies that I hid from the kids and had myself. Im not a big cookie eater and I like the crunchier type of cookie so these were perfect to me! I only wish they sold them in the store down the street!
Newman's Own Organics was established as a division of Newman's Own in 1993, and became a separate company in late 2001. The sale of Newmans Own Organics products generates money for the Newman's Own Foundation to give away. Since 1982 Paul Newman and the Newman's Own Foundation have donated more than $350 million dollars to educational and charitable organizations worldwide.
The wonderful people at Newmans Own Organics are going to send a reader of my blog box of goodies as well. Enter the easy rafflecopter below and good luck!
While you wait to see if you won, go HERE to print out a few Newmans Own Organics coupons. You can also visit them on Facebook HERE.

ZIPZICLE Giveaway

Zipzicles are a terrific product that I am very excited to have an opportunity to try.  My kids love popsicles so I was looking for a healthy alternative that I could make myself.  My daughter and I juice often - 2 to 3 times per week.  Our juicing activities are perfect for making healthy popsicles and Zipzicles are the best vehicle to make these in!

Yeah - I know fresh juice is not the most attractive looking.  Seems it always ends up green or brown.  But let me tell you - it is so incredibly tasty.

Essentially these are zip top ice pop bags.  The bags are nice and thick with a "fill to" line so you don't overfill.  This product allows for us to make popsicles that are free from dyes, all natural, no need for sticks and fully portable.  We have children with special needs - anything we can do to improve their diet is very helpful.  These are also the perfect frozen option for when we are camping - I can juice at home, fill the Zipzicles and throw them in the freezer when we get to the camper.  Each pouch holds 3.5 ounces.  They recommend several different methods for filling but I use a funnel simply because I use the funnel to fill my jars after I juice anyway - I am already set up for it.  The site also recommends that you freeze the pops standing upright in a container.  I have yet to find enough space anywhere in my freezer to be able to stand anything upright.  But even without that, it freezes and works just fine.

Apparently their ice pop bags are a new design with reinforced sides.  I did not try the old design so I have nothing to compare it to but I can tell you this bag is very sturdy and strong.  I have had no issues so far.  I have also reused them.  I simple rinse them out with warm water and soap and then hang them in the dish drainer over a straw to allow them to dry.

These are so much fun to make; don't require any sticks; completely portable; they save space (remember - I have NONE, especially in the camper); the BPA Free and recyclable.

U.S.  $2.99 per package of 12!

And Zipzicle has so graciously offered to giveaway away a package to three entrants in the giveaway below.  THREE entrants will win their own package of Zipzicles!  How cool is that?!  Enter below.

Giveaway open to US and Canada only.

ONE entrant per household/IP address.
