I have always been fascinated with graveyards. Not because of looking for the supernatural or anything like that. Because of the fascinating headstones and markers you can see. Some are basic and some are so ornately done they are beautiful. I took these pictures at Mt Hope Cemetery in Bangor Maine and at another in Brewer Maine. Alot of the most common are the 3 below.
I like basic and to the point. I have told my family if I am having a memorial marker, I want small and simple. Sometimes they are simple because the family was poor or a stone carver wasnt available to do one.
Here are a few of the most common that I saw alot of in my venture with their common meanings.
This stone threw me off! It seems jumbled but I suppose it makes sense to someone!
